Ready to launch your practice to a new level?  Get ready for “The Rocket!”

Larry Schultz, Ashtangi and yoga teacher to the Grateful Dead, created the Rocket Routines in the late 1960’s.  He modified the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa primary and intermediate series, with the goal of making these sequences more accessible to Western practitioners.

Grateful Dead songwriter and guitarist Bob Weir nicknamed the vibrant routine the “Rocket” because “it gets you there faster.”  The system is designed to renew vitality and energy.

The workshop is best-suited for Level 2 students, who are familiar with basic standing poses, backbends and are comfortable kicking to the wall when practicing inversions.  Modifications will be provided throughout the workshop to ensure the asanas are safe and accessible for all who attend.

Yoga Mat instructor Elizabeth Schubert recently completed a 100-hour Rocket training with “It’s Yoga” satellite in Thailand.


I practice yoga for a myriad of reasons, but can sum it up in just one: it makes everything in my life…better. I began my yoga adventure in college, armed with a VHS tape featuring Alan Finger. That video was later replaced with DVD’s of Rodney Yee and Sara Ivanhoe, but I didn’t attend a public class for years, embarrassed because I couldn’t touch my toes. It wasn’t until 2009, when I attended my first Vinyasa class in Rochester, NY, that I finally realized what I’d been missing.

A former TV reporter and anchor, I love to communicate, and I’ve found teaching to be a natural fit. As a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Instructor and graduate of the Yogaworks 200-hour teaching training program, I’m more than a little obsessed with anatomy and alignment. I’m not particularly flexible, and I don’t expect you to be either. I do expect you to come to class ready to work hard. My focus? To create challenging and safe classes that build strength and increase flexibility…all while making everyone sweat and smile. Come play!

This workshop will challenge you to help build courage, strength, and lightness while balancing on your hands.  Unlock handstand and learn fearless flying to align your energetic, muscular, and skeletal body.  Empowering arm balances, inversions and transitions will be the theme of the day to create stability, balance, and freedom. This practice will explore a deep realm of inner strength in a beautiful outward expression. Evolve your practice with creative sequencing, drills, and leave with empowered vitality and a feeling of freedom. All levels welcome.

Yin yoga is one of the most healing forms of yoga for the body, mind and soul. Unlike the muscular yang practice of most yoga classes today, Yin yoga poses are held for 3-5 minutes commonly seated or lying down, using props so that the muscles can soften and relax. This allows the deep connective tissue to open which can release emotional and/or physical scar tissue and trapped energy. Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, is a guided meditation that brings you to a state of consciousness between wake and sleep and full body relaxation.
